Surf With Us: Our local spots

One thing we aim to never take for granted is just how lucky we are to live where we do, and one of the best things about that is being able to share our favourite places. We’ve rounded up some of our favourite surf spots here on the North Cornish coast for you to enjoy during your stay at Wylde Valley Camping.

Widemouth Bay

Widemouth Bay is a popular beach for surfers, families and swimmers, just 15 minutes drive from Wylde Valley Camping. It is a long, sandy beach, dotted with rock pools, and big enough to not feel crowded in the water on a busy day. Widemouth offers a good wave during the usually flatter summer months, enjoyed by both experienced surfers and beginners. Lifeguarded from late April to late September, as well as half-term holidays. There is a beachside cafe, and surf lessons are available from OA Surf Club.

CRackington Haven

Crackington Haven is a beautiful cove along the North Cornwall coast, just 15 minutes from Wylde Valley Camping. Sheltered from northerly winds, Crackington gives a calmer wave on a big swell. It’s rocky at high tide, best at low-mid tide. Lifeguarded from early July to early September. You’ll find two cafes and a pub close to the beach, perfect for refuelling after a surf.

Trebarwith STRAND

A beautiful, unspoilt beach, 30 minutes from Wylde Valley Camping. As always, check your tides! This large, sandy beach disappears completely at high tide and is closed for two hours either side of high water. Trebarwith is better suited to experienced surfers, with fast, barrelling waves and a good beach break. Best surfed at low-mid tide, and entered via a rocky gully. Lifeguarded from mid May to mid September. After a surf, enjoy the views from The Port William pub overlooking this beautiful beach.

We hope to see you at Wylde Valley very soon, we’ll be here with our recommendations for the best surf when you get here!
