Cycle With Us: Routes from Camp

Are you a keen cyclist? Or considering a bike-packing trip through Cornwall? North Cornwall has some of the most beautiful scenery out there, from dramatic coastlines to rolling hills and hidden lanes, and it’s pretty special to explore it all by bike. We’re lucky enough to sit on the National Cycle Network Route 304 here at Wylde Valley Camping, with signposted routes on our doorstep.

Routes

Take a look at National Cycling Routes nearby using the OS Map. National routes are signposted by small, blue signs with the route number shown in red. As always, plan your route, pack your tools and know your own limits!

Wylde Valley Camping sits on Route 304, with Route 3 running along the nearby coastline. This is the most well known cycling route in the South West, running from Land’s End to Bristol. Our nearby section of this route takes you out towards the coast, through Widemouth Bay and on to the town of Bude.

If you enjoy a hill climb, then you’re in for a treat! Cornwall is known for the punchy, steep hills that take you in and out of coastal towns and beaches with spectacular views.

coffee stops

There’s nothing quite like a pasty or a cream tea to keep you going on a ride. Here are some of our favourite bike-friendly cafes to enjoy while you’re in the area:

Boscastle Farm Shop: Seating inside and out, beautiful views, delicious pasties and a cake counter of any cyclist’s dreams.

The Cabin Crackington: Seating inside and out, beach views, open year-round. Steep hills down and back up from here!

Electric Bakery Bude: Take-away or seating outside. Delicious baked treats to keep you going!

Post-Ride

Back at Wylde Valley Camping, enjoy our new facilities block with flushing toilets, hot, dual-head showers and plug sockets for hairdryers. You can freshen up the lycra in our campsite washing machine too.

We hope to see you at Wylde Valley soon. We’ll be here with our recommendations for the best cycling routes when you get here!
